What is Aphesis?

"The glory of God is man fully alive." - St. Irenaeus

Aphesis (Ahh-Fee-Sees) is an ancient greek word that was used to denote freedom.  Back at the turn of the first century it was used to describe the freeing of, or releasing from, bondage and imprisonment.  Its meaning is beautiful.  Aphesis means freedom from bondage.  Furthermore, it means freedom to such a degree that it is as if the initial cause of the bondage never even existed.  It is, in essence, freedom to live into one’s beauty.  It is living fully alive.
